This morning we played Ynysddu at the new Centre of Excellence at Ystrad Mynach.

The Dale won the toss to start the game and Thomas Gregory made good ground passing on to William Morgan with another fantastic off load to Thomas Gregory to score,0-1.  Ynysddu restarted and we saw some good tackles by Jordan Way and Zac Tucker, A loose ball was picked up by Gabriel Jones he passed to William Davey who had a good run and passed on to James Williams to score, 0-2.  William Morgan and Thomas Gregory drove Ynysddu back causing knock-on and the scrum to Dale.  Scrum-half Oliver Cooke passed to Thomas Gregory who stormed up the field, he saw a space dodged the defence to score, 0-3.  Ynysddu restarted Thomas Gregory, Jordan Way and Zac Tucker put in some great tackles before a knock-on gave Dale the scrum.  The ball was fed to William Davey who used to speed to beat the defence to score, 0-4.  James Williams, Jordan Way, Gabriel Jones, Oliver Cooke and Thomas Gregory did some great tackling, the ball went loose Thomas Gregory pounced on the ball and passed to Gabriel Jones unfortunately he found touch.  Jordan Way persisted with the tackling as did Thomas Gregory and Gabriel and eventually Ynysddu found touch.  Dale took the ball but ended up over the dead ball line, scrum 5 to Ynysddu.  Ynysddu didn't use the ball and a knock on gave the scrum back to the Dale a good run by William Davey and Zac Tucker but unfortunately another knock on gave a scrum to Ynysddu, Thomas Gregory, Oliver Cooke and Jordan Way put in some great tackles just before the half-time whistle.

Half time Ynysddu 0 -Oakdale 4

Ynysddu restarted the second half and despite some great tackles by all of the Dale Ynysddu persisted and scored, 1-4.  Oliver Cooke re-started with a great run and offload to James Williams he was well on his way to the try line before a nasty fall saw an injury to the shoulder and he was substituted.  Thomas Gregory took the ball and the Dale thought he had scored a try but was tackled just over the line with the ball falling out of his hand. Ynysddu took the ball and some more great tackling by Thomas Gregory and Zac Tucker caused a knock-on and a scrum Dale, Thomas Gregory passed to William Davey who had an excellent determined run to score,  1-5.  Ynysddu restarted Oliver Cooke picked up a loose ball and fed through to Thomas Gregory who used it to score 1-6. Ynysddu start with a knock-on giving Dale the ball, William Morgan had a good run and passed to  Oliver Cooke unfortunately just had his foot in touch yards from the try line.  The possession soon passed back to Oakdale and Dafydd Price had amazing weaving run in and out of the defence but unfortunately also found touch.  The Dale showed some amazing tackling, Ynysddu thought they had escaped the grips of Dale defence but was caught by Thomas Gregory with an excellent tackle, they persisted and William Morgan tackled on the try line but was just too late and Ynysddu scored 2-6.  Thomas Gregory finished the game with an excellent run to score 2-7.

Man of the match - Oliver Cooke

Coaches comments - If Wales tackled as well as the boys did today they might have beaten the All Blacks, this was the most impressive defensive performance from the boys against a much improved Ynysddu today. If we can get the tackling and passing moves working at the same time we will become a very good team! Well done boys!
