This cold Sunday morning saw the U9’s face RTB Ebbw Vale.  The boys were still recovering from their day out at Wales v Fiji with a late night taking its toll.

RTB started the game with two tries in quick succession with the second being given by a Dale knock on, 2-0.  Dale restarted and Gabriel Jones had a good run but found touch, RTB soon gave possession away with a forward pass and William Morgan had a determined run to score, 2-1.  The Dale gained possession from an offside and gave William Davey a chance to show his speed; unfortunately RTB came across forcing William into touch.  Dale was able to regain the ball and Oliver Cooke had a run, he passed to Dafydd Price but a forward pass gave a scrum to RTB and they scored, 3-1.

The Dale started the middle third with good running and passing, James Williams gained some ground before an offload to Oliver Cooke who was in support, he passed to Gabriel Jones but Dale found themselves in touch.  RTB also showed good running and passing and found the try line, 4-1.  Dale found touch before the try line, a Gabriel Jones tackle causes a knock on but RTB picked up a loose ball and despite William Morgan putting in excellent tackles RTB scored, 5-1.  RTB scooped up another loose ball but a thumping tackle by William Morgan saw the ball go loose and was picked up by Connor Thomas, RTB gave a heavy tackle seeing Connor land in touch.  A knock by RTB saw a scrum to Dale, there was some excellent teamwork with William Davey passing to James Williams and onto Oliver Cooke to allow Oliver to cross the whitewash, 5-2.

RTB start the final third with a forward pass.  Gabriel had a run but just got caught, forward passes saw possession pass back and fore before RTB scored, 6-2.  RTB used a turnover ball to claim another two tries, 8-2.  Dafydd Price had a great run passing to Max Rossiter before RTB picked up another loose ball to score 9-2.  William Davey, Max Rossiter and William Morgan showed us how to do the switch move which did catch out the opposition, William Morgan passed to Oliver Cooke who fed the ball back to William Morgan allowing him to score, 9-3.  Zac Tucker and Max Rossiter made some good tackles before RTB took the last try of the game. 10-3.

The whole team played really well and the coaches awarded team of the match as it was difficult to single out one player.
