Fixture

The U9's travelled to Abertillery Park to play Abertillery and Abercynon.  A warm welcome greeted us both from the hosts and the weather.

The first team was Abertillery, Oakdale won the toss but a loose ball gave Abertillery possession.  Max Rossiter put in some excellent tackles resulting in a knock on and a scrum to the Dale.  The Dale advanced into the Abertillery half but found touch.  Abertillery persisted and scored, 1-0.

A knock on from Dale at the restart gave a scrum to Abertillery, William Morgan and Max Rossiter slowed down the hosts, taking numerous tackles between them, a scrum to the Dale saw William Davey go on a mazy run passing to Thomas Gregory, Thomas almost made it to the try line but a tackle saw the ball go loose, Abertillery scooped up the ball, an ankle tap from Zac Tucker was not enough to stop them and they crossed the white wash, 2-0.

Dale restarted and Max Rossiter made good ground dragging the hosts at his feet, he passed to Thomas Gregory who was in support who ran through the defence to score, 2-1.

Abertillery caught the Dale napping and scored from the restart.

The second game of the morning was against Abercynon.  Dale started the game and Max Rossiter and William Morgan made good ground towards the try line, a knock on gave Abercynon possession, Dale showed good defence but Abercynon found the try line, 1-0.  

Dale restarted with Thomas Gregory taking the opposition by surprise and sprinted to the try line, 1-1.

Abercynon restarted, they were pushed back a few times by Max Rossiter, William Morgan and Thomas Gregory before the broke the defence to score, 2-1.

Dale restarted and William Morgan powered through the defence to score, 2-2.

Abercynon responded with a try, 3-2.

Dale restart but lost the ball, the Dale held the opposition back with tackles from Oliver Cooke and Gabriel Jones before a try saving tackle from Thomas Gregory saw Abercynon end up in touch.  Thomas took the ball and made good ground, we saw some good running and passing between Thomas and William Morgan ending withThomas Gregory equalising, 3-3.
