Good to be back home

It was good to be back home!  First home game of the season and a glorious sunny morning it was too.  The U9’s were hosting Forgeside and won the toss.  From the start we saw a determined Dale team and great teamwork resulted in Thomas Gregory getting the first try of the morning, 1-0.  Forgeside restarted and with great determination they managed to get their first try of the morning, 1-1.   William Davey took the ball and headed up the pitch weaving his way through the defence to claim the Dale's second try of the morning, 2-1.  The Dale defence held Forgeside back with tackles going in from the whole team, Forgeside thought they saw a gap on the wing but Dylan Caddy was there to take the tackle and Forgeside landed in touch. Some excellent passing between the team saw James Williams pass out to William Morgan; William left three defenders to make good round before passing to Gabriel Jones who sprinted to the line to score, 3-1.

First Third Oakdale 3 – Forgeside 1

Forgeside started the second third but a knock on gave a scrum to Dale, scrum half passed back to William Morgan who had an excellent run through the defence to score, 4-1. Forgeside were held at the half way line before a scrum to Dale saw Thomas Gregory dodge through the defence to cross the white wash, 5-1.  Forgeside restarted and a good tackle by William Davey saw them go into touch.  Dafydd Price had a good run before passing to Oliver Cooke, he made good ground but was tackled and the ball knocked on.  Forgeside scrum but once again they found touch.  Thomas Gregory and the supporters thought he had scored, but before he could ground the ball Forgeside tackled him into touch.  Dale held Forgeside within their half, William Morgan pounced on a loose ball, William Davey took the ball and had a great run, he passed to Thomas Gregory to claim his hat trick, 6-1.

Second Third Oakdale 6 – Forgeside 1

James Williams started the last third with a good run, a knock on gave scrum to Forgeside, they started to progress towards the try line, a tackle by Oliver Cooke caused the ball to go loose, it was scooped up by Max Rossiter, excellent passing between the team before William Morgan once again ran straight through the defence to score, 7-1.  Jordan Way pushed Forgeside back into their half before Max Rossiter came in to land them in touch.  Max took the ball and dragged 3 defenders with him; he passed to Thomas Gregory to score, 8-1.  Forgeside restarted and thought they had seen a gap but Dafydd Price took a great tackle to stop them, they persisted and despite Max and William Morgan coming in for more tackles they found the try line, 8-2.  Dale restarted and Connor Thomas pumped his legs to push through the defence, he passed to Dafydd Price who had an excellent run before finding touch.  Forgeside took the ball but three tackles in a row saw Forgeside land in touch on the whistle.
