Our second game of the season took us to Pontypool where we continued our fine early form into this game. 

Firstly a special mention to the home side who loaned us one of their players to keep the sides at 10 a piece! Diolch.

The game was played with 3 quarters enabling all players from pontypool to have a run out. With the homenside starting brightly it took a few hard tackles for us to find out rhthym and was helped by some tremendous tackling from Gethin, Pacey and Brayley .

Trailing 1-0 we came into it with some excellent running by Joseph who was a constant threat throughout on the wing, playing the ball across to Ruben who showed strength and a great line to go over to tie the scores. That try seemed to give the team a lot of confidence and with some great passing by iestyn and Rhys it was Joseph again who showed blistering pace down the flank to over for his first of his 2 tries.

With the scores tight throughout we seemed to have the measure of them with some big hits coming in from Gethin and Iestyn spilling the ball with ferocious tackling.

As the game wore on the game was stretched enabling Pacey and Gethin to show great lines and dink their way over the try line. Some excellent tackling by Charlie and some last ditch tackling by Pacey to prevent them going over for a last minute try ensured we kept the score line at 8-5.

Another great effort enjoyed by all the boys with Iestyn getting man of the match with a great contribution throughout.

Hopefully have full compliment next week with Joe and Ieuan due to return however the latter might be out of his control if his 2 siblings want to make an appearance. 😀 (Good luck Lauren from all of us at Oakdale U9s)
