U11's make it two out of two

The second game of the morning was against Newbridge, Hudson’s ankle injury meant he was sitting this one out and supporting with Gabriel.  We loaned Josh and Bailey for this game.  From the kick off the ball went straight over dead ball line.  From the restart there was good running by James who offloaded to Bailey to score.  Dafydd took a knock to the leg and came off to rest for 5 minutes due to a dead leg.  The Dale kept the pressure on the hosts and resulted in a try by Jensen.  The Dale kicked off, Oliver was chasing the ball, Newbridge let it bounce straight towards Oliver who caught it and scored.  Newbridge came back with a try from their speedy wing.  Dafydd had a good run and had the presence of mind to shout switch, Oliver was in support but unfortunately a knock on gave Newbridge the scrum.  From the scrum Newbridge took the ball into touch. From the line out Liam as scrum half, fed the ball out, it was pleasing to see the excellent handling today, and once again we saw Dafydd sprint to the tryline.   Newbridge advanced to the try line finding touch first, Evan Evans had a good break, a turnover from the tackle allowed Newbridge to score.  Oliver the ball from the restart he made ground taking the ball into the opponents half, a knock on in the tackle gave the scrum to Newbridge.  Possession was soon back with the Dale an offload from Jensen to Bailey saw him score his second.  Again passing and teamwork was preventing the Newbridge defence getting to the ball and saw Oliver scored just before the half time whistle.

The second half started with Bailey catching the ball from the kick off and scoring his hat trick.  Possession passed between the teams and finished with a try to Newbridge.  The Dale advanced to the try line with Dafydd crossing the line.   Newbridge took the ball from the restart and kicked for possession, this was caught by Dafydd who ran and popped the ball up to Jensen who was in support to score.   Newbridge scored two tries, from the second restart Dafydd caught the ball, he kicked downfield, chased it down, picked it up and scored another hat trick.  Newbridge added another two to their try tally before Evan caught the ball and had a good run he twisted his knee in the tackle and the ref called time.

At the end of the morning our try tally was 20 and our injury tally 5!

Next week is the last game of the season on tour at Whitland.

Newbridge 7 – Oakdale 10.

MOM - Harvey Lyons and Oliver Cooke

Coaches comments – the tries were pleasing today as they were a team effort made from good passing and support play.  The most important thing was to see the boys smiling, enjoying playing rugby and regaining their confidence.
