A game of two halves for the U11's

It was definitely a game of two halves against Hafodyrynys with not too much to report about in the first half.   With an ever growing injury list Lewys Robinson-Blanche who came to watch was drafted in to play.  Hafod were much quicker off the mark and scored 4 tries before Oakdale realised the game had started.  There was a glimmer of action when Logan went into the ruck and turned the ball over, he passed to Oliver who had Dafydd waiting on the wing to run over the try line and put the first points on the board for the Dale.  Another turnover saw Oliver kick to gain ground, Dafydd chased down and we weren’t able to use to the possession.  A knock to the knee saw Hudson come off and Ethan Paterson take to the field.  The Dale had started two wake up by the end of the first half and good support play saw Jenson cross the line for the second try of the morning.

After a team talk the boys were back on the pitch and Hudson was giving it another go.   It still took a while for them to get going and Hafod an in two more tries.  Unfortunately, we added another to the injury list with Hudson not being able to continue and Ethan Paterson going back on as replacement.   The Dale steeped up a gear and showed their supporters they have the ability to let the ball do the work feeding through the team putting Dafydd over for his second try.  This was quickly followed by Logan seeing space and pushing through to cross the white wash.

Hafod were back on the try line an interception by Liam prevented the try, the Dale took the ball through the phases until Lewys pounced over the line to score.  The Dale maintained the possession from the kick off and this time it was Oliver who side stepped his way to the try line. The visitors scored two tries before Ethan Paterson had an excellent break and ran up the pitch, he was meters from the try line when he was tackled, it was a good effort and unlucky not to score. The tackler took the ball from the floor so possession was given to the Dale, Oliver took the ball through some defenders before seeing Dafydd in a space and passed for him to score his hat trick.  Liam and Zac drove Hafod deep into their half, they offloaded and kicked down field, Oliver and Dafydd chased, Dafydd signalled it was his ball, he scooped it up and sped to the corner to take his tally to four.

Final Score Oakdale 8 – Hafodyrynys 9
